Faculty Mentor Program Call for Mentors
Teaching and Learning Center (TLC)

The Teaching and Learning Center is committed to providing a supportive community for all faculty members at Northern Arizona University. The Faculty Mentor Program is one way that the TLC supports our newest faculty colleagues. Through the program, new faculty members are paired with experienced faculty members who shares their interests (usually from a different discipline).

Purposeful, mutually enriching matches are made between faculty requesting a mentor and their experienced faculty mentors in the beginning of the fall semester or as requested during the year.

The Faculty Mentor Program addresses these major goals:
  • To promote an ongoing sense of community for faculty at NAU
  • To invite feelings of collegiality and shared opportunities
  • To assist new faculty in understanding university culture
  • To offer support in the development of productive teaching and research agendas
  • To create opportunities for maintaining a broad network of professional colleagues

Mentoring dyads/triads will:
  • Attend a mentor program orientation (as schedules allow)
  • Meet regularly (monthly) throughout the academic year
  • Commit to the program for one academic year
  • Provide an evaluation of the program

We are hopeful that this mentoring program is rewarding for both you and your mentee and will complement already existing mentor programs within the new faculty member's home department.
